Quiet Matter is one architect reading Los Angeles.

The archive behind it is small on purpose: ten places in three clusters, each held to real depth — the story of why it exists where and how it does, how people actually dwell in it, and how it reads under the city's named weathers. Depth over breadth: the same ten places, known better every season, never more places for their own sake.

A Day is composed from that archive for one date. The story of each place leads. The forecast for your date decides which reading of each place you get, and the walks between them are written from the real reasons one place follows another. The same room under the marine layer and under a Santa Ana is two different rooms; the Day is written for the one you will be in.

Nothing ships that the archive does not support. A place's history belongs to everyone who ever stands in it, and we tell it whole to every reader it concerns — but the sentences composed for your date are recorded, and are never re-served to another reader.
